This week the wonderful photographer, EvelynVictus gave me an equally wonderful interview.
She shares what inspires her, her tips for other photographers, and her favorite thing about photography.
WindInTheCoffeeCup What inspires you?
EvelynVictus I definitely get inspired by other photographers on deviantART. When I see other beautiful photography, I feel compelled to make something just as beautiful. I really enjoy it, and it makes me very happy.
WindInTheCoffeeCup What's your favorite thing about photography?
EvelynVictus I'd have to say my favorite thing is seeing something I create after I have finished it. You can do many things with photography, and I enjoy trying new effects and taking photos of things I find interesting. I always say to myself to take my camera everywhere, because you never know when you will see something that you would like to make a photo out of.
WindInTheCoffeeCup Do you have a favorite photographer? If so, why is he/she your your favorite?
EvelynVictus I do not have an ultimate favorite photographer. There are just so many, and so many I have yet to see. Someone I really enjoy though is Armene. I think she takes very interesting photos. She tries new things, and she has a good imagination. I really enjoy her style as well.
WindInTheCoffeeCup Do you have any tips for other photographers?
EvelynVictus Well, I'm still learning myself. I only took Graphic Arts in high school, and I never went to college. I can say I'm a self-taught photographer. I would like it to be a side job one day. I actually want many jobs. I still think myself as a beginner, but I'm definitely growing. Something I can say is to definitely take your camera everywhere (everywhere you can). Try to think of different angles, different subjects, etc. Use your imagination. I really enjoy Photoshop as well, and Lightroom. Lightroom is really good for photography. I never change the way a person looks, or any animal. I just like to turn a simple shot into something more. It's fun too, messing around with coloring and effects. Just never over-do it, unless it's the intention. One day I really hope to be professional, but I'm not now. So, I don't have any huge tips. I wouldn't feel comfortable anyways, since I still think myself as a beginner.
WindInTheCoffeeCup What got you started in photography?
EvelynVictus Ever since I was a little girl, I loved every form of art. I would paint, draw, etc. I didn't realize how much I loved photography until I got my hands on a camera. I just brought it everywhere and took photos of everything. Then that love grew, and I wanted to make something out of it. I wanted to do more, so I would read articles on photography. I also really enjoyed doing the darkroom at my school. One day I will be able to afford a really nice camera, the kind professionals have. I can't wait for that.
WindInTheCoffeeCup Do you have a favorite photo you've taken?
EvelynVictus No, I do not. I don't think I will ever have a favorite. I do enjoy my eye shots. I enjoy eyes in general. There's just something about eyes. I do like the photo I took at the zoo. It's called, "Paysage". fav.me/d5ixh91 I remember when I saw that aoudad sitting there with the scenery, I got so excited. I thought it was a perfect scene to capture.

Time to move on
Hello members
I owe a big thank you to all the amazing admins who've stepped in in the recent past - @EMSpanglerPhotography, lucytherescuedcat (https://www.deviantart.com/lucytherescuedcat), Floreina-Arts (https://www.deviantart.com/floreina-arts), YoshaPhotography (https://www.deviantart.com/yoshaphotography) and Yuukon (https://www.deviantart.com/yuukon) - for helping me keep this group running.
Though I love this group (but most of all what it stood for, namely working alongside of friends - WindInTheCoffeeCup (https://www.deviantart.com/windinthecoffeecup), who has left DA - who had a clear vision for the group if not the time) I've been feeling more and more like I'm not the right person to run the group.
It's an elitist group, for photography that's outstanding and standing-out. The group is too big run and the decisions sometimes
Admins Needed
Hello dearest members
You might have noticed it takes a while before your submissions go through; this is because the group is run by just 2 people currently and aside from running the group, we'd also like to enjoy real life ;)
This is why we're calling out for help: we could really use some new colleagues to help voting on submissions :D
If you're online a few times a week and could spare a bit of your time to vote on the stand-out-shots submitted to this group, and are interested in adminstering a group (there are also some perks involved in being part of a group's admin team :la:) send me or the group a note :dummy:

Grow Your Craft Challenge - still running!
Hi there
It's the third month of the new year already, and while in some places winter reign with a cold fist, in others spring is lurking just around the corner.
Which means it's a perfect time to get out your camera and enjoy that watery sunshine or winter landscape or - if you're on the other side of the equator - the turning of the leaves with the start of autumn.
In case you don't know what to photograph, how about joining in on our very first, new challenge of 2018:
The "grow your craft challenge".
Not sure what I'm talking about?
Read all about it in this journal:
:thumb721732961:
But be aware, the challenge ends at the end
It's Coming: 2018
Hello everyone
At the beginning of the month, we introduced you to the new additions to the admin team, Floreina-Arts (https://www.deviantart.com/floreina-arts) and YoshaPhotography (https://www.deviantart.com/yoshaphotography).
Since they've come aboard, the backroom has been positively buzzing with activity - submissions are going through rapid-fire.
But that's not all:
Starting January 1, 2018 the group is going to be more active :dummy:
What does "more active" actually entail?
Aside from just accepting photography submissions, and sharing the irregular Photography Feature now and then, we will be hosting themes and challenges.
Keep your eyes primed for the first challenge that will be announced and star
